A Yorkiepoo is a hybrid dog, a cross between a Yorkshire terrier and a poodle. The Yorkiepoo weighs from 3 to 14 pounds and has a life expectancy of 10 to 15 years.
Yorkiepoos are wonderful family dogs. They love people and are willing to perform tricks for visitors. Yorkiepoos are very intelligent. Training them is enjoyable, and they do well in obedience class. Yorkiepoos are very independent and therefore are not too demanding when it comes to sitting on laps. Considering their small stature, Yorkiepoos make surprisingly good watchdogs. In fact, they think they are larger than they actually are. They should be socialized with large dogs, so they do not have the impulse to lunge at and fight with dogs bigger than themselves.
Yorkiepoos come in a variety of colors including cream, black, white and silver. The texture of the Yorkiepoo’s coat is very silky, and it is either straight or curly. Their coat needs to be trimmed regularly, but they only need to be bathed when necessary. Toy breeds are known to have dental problems, and their teeth should be brushed at least twice a week. If the Yorkiepoo does not wear down its nails naturally, clip them about twice a month to prevent painful tears.
