Saltwater crocodiles are known to occasionally prey on sharks, meaning that a crocodile would most likely win in a hypothetical confrontation with one. Armed with a muscular, heavily armored body, sharp claws and the strongest bite of any animal ever recorded, the saltwater crocodile is among the world's greatest predators.
The saltwater crocodile is the largest reptile on earth, capable of reaching 22 feet in length and weighing more than 4,000 pounds. As an apex predator, the saltwater crocodile has no natural enemies and preys on anything it can overpower. The saltwater crocodile inhabits South Asian and Australian estuaries, mangrove swamps, lagoons and deltas. It is even occasionally found in the open ocean.
