What Is the World Record for Redfish?

As of 2015, the International Game Fish Association's world all-tackle records state that the heaviest redfish, or red drum, ever caught weighed 42.69 kilograms, or 94 pounds and 2 ounces. David Deuel caught the fish in 1984 near the coastal town of Avon, North Carolina.

Dante A. Bustamante currently holds the all-tackle length record. He caught a redfish near Merritt Island, Florida, that was 117 centimeters, or 46 inches, long. The largest redfish ever caught by a female angler was caught by Elizabeth Pomory off of Oregon Inlet in North Carolina. The redfish weighed in at 70 pounds and 4 ounces.
