Water buffalo eat a variety of plants, shrubs, leaves and grasses. Water buffalo are herbivores so they stick to a vegetarian diet.

Water buffalo live in various parts of the world including Asia and Europe. While they can live on land, they often prefer the waters in tropical forests. This not only helps to cool the animal down in the intense heat, but it provides the buffalo with food sources. Water buffalo commonly feed on aquatic plants, but will wander on land to search for grasses and other herbs. The water buffalo is rather large and can reach standing heights of more than six feet. They also have horns that can get as large as five feet long, which adds to their intimidating appearance.
