Robins are best known for laying blue eggs. Other birds, such as bluebirds and starlings, lay eggs that are solid blue.
The American Robin is known for its bright, light blue eggs. However, other birds are known for laying blue eggs:
- House finches
- Brown-headed cowbirds
- Northern mockingbird
Only robins lay bright blue eggs. The eggs from other birds tend to come in various shades of blue, from very pale to spotted. Northern mockingbird eggs are blue or green and feature reddish spots while the white eggs of the house sparrow have a blue tint or spots. House finch eggs are also pale blue and have black spots.
