The main visual difference between winged ants and termites are the shape of the bodies. A termite's body has a straight waist and antennae, while flying ants have bent antennae and pinched waists. Both species have two sets of wings, but while those of flying ants point upward toward the ant's head, the termite's wings spread downward.
