Reindeer stand at a height between 31 inches and 59 inches when measured at their highest shoulder points, according to the San Diego Zoo. They also grow to be about 4 to 7 feet in length.
Reindeer are native to northern regions and can be found mostly in northern Asia, Northern Europe, Alaska, Canada and Greenland. Wild reindeer tend to stay within mountainous, wooded or tundra-covered regions. The name reindeer generally applies to those of the species that have been domesticated, usually in northern Europe and Asia. In those areas where the reindeer are still present in the wild, they are known as caribou.
