Suitable dogs for people with allergies include dogs with single coats, such as the Boston terrier, and dogs with curly or wired coats, including the Griffon and Puli. Others include terrier breeds, including Kerry blue terriers and the Harlequin Great Dane and spotted Dalmatian, both of which have short coats.
Hairless breeds are often the best bet for people who have asthma, since hair can become stuck in the air and nasal passages, causing asthma symptoms. Suitable hairless breeds include the hairless terrier, the miniature Xoloitzcuintli and the Peruvian hairless. Some of the least-compatible breeds for allergy sufferers include dogs that produce an abundance of dander, including Cocker spaniels and Shar Peis.
