Dogs sold as miniature pit bulls are usually a mix between the American Pit Bull Terrier and the Patterdale Terrier. They are also called pocket pit bulls. These dogs mature at around 16 to 20 inches high, and are high-energy dogs requiring plenty of exercise.
Miniature pit bulls have a strong prey drive and may attempt to chase, seize and kill smaller animals. Proper training and socialization as a puppy may help overcome these innate traits. These dogs are easy to train but may be stubborn. They are not suited for inexperienced dog owners. Miniature pit bulls have short coats and only need regular brushing. They come in a wide assortment of colors.
