What Is the Size of a Bee?
Bees can measure up to 1 inch in length. The size of a bee depends on what it does for the hive. The queen is larger than the female worker bee and the male drone bee.
The bumble bee has only one stinger. After stinging, the bee loses the stinger and dies. Male drone bees have no stinger. The bumble bee makes its nest in soil or dead leaves. These bees use their long tongues to collect pollen and nectar to feed the colony. As they do this, they pollinate flowers. Without the bee, many plants would not be able to reproduce.
