Second Chance Dog Rescue is a non-profit organization that saves abandoned dogs in the San Diego, California region. This large company dedicates itself to rescuing, rehabilitating and finding families for homeless dogs.
Second Chance Dog Rescue primarily takes in dogs from people who can no longer care for their pets. The center is located in San Diego, but volunteers rescue dogs from all over southern California and parts of Mexico. The center provides medical care, spays and neuters dogs, and nurtures them until a rescuer can provide a permanent home.
People interested in adoption must apply first. If the application is approved, the person and dog live together for two weeks to ensure they are a good fit for one another. After a successful two-week foster period, there is a final home visit from a Second Chance Dog Rescue volunteer before the adoption is official.
