What Do Sea Fish Eat?

Sea fish feed on small creatures, smaller fish and various dead organisms that drop down from higher water levels. It is common for sea fish to go as long as two weeks without eating, as food is often scarce in the deep sea.

Sea fish have slow digestive systems that allow them to remain full for extended periods of time, a trait that is extremely beneficial when their food supply is scarce. Certain species of male angler fish, for example, are small in size and live on female angler fish as parasites, in turn allowing the female fish to detect and feed on all available food sources.
