San Juan rabbits are rabbits that have been living on the San Juan Islands. The rabbits are thought to have been introduced from Europe to the San Juan Islands sometime between 1875 and 1895. Rabbits descended from rabbits captured on the San Juan Islands are also called San Juan rabbits.
The rabbits provide a food source for the native foxes but otherwise have been very destructive to the ecosystem and native plants and animals of the San Juan Islands. The San Juan Islands are located off the coast of the state of Washington and are considered part of that state.
