As of November 2015, some online resources for worm identification are Discover Life, Great Lakes Worm Watch and the University of Wisconsin-Madison Insect ID. Discover Life helps site users identify earthworms using the shapes of body parts. When a user selects a certain shape, links to possible worms appear.
Great Lakes Worm Watch offers a dichotemous key to help site users identify 16 species of earthworm. On each step of the key, the user chooses between two statements about a worm's appearance. At the end of the process, the worm's Latin name appears.
The Department of Entemology at UW Madison uses photographs to help people identify both indoor and outdoor worms. Rather than traditional earthworms, this site focuses on caterpillars, larvae and other worm species, such as mealworms, millipedes and horsehair worms.
