Do Any Rescue Shelters Focus on Miniature Pomeranians?

While there are no rescues focused specifically on miniature Pomeranians, there are many rescues across the United States that focus on Pomeranians. A couple of examples include Colorado Peke and Pom Dog Rescue and Potato Chips Pomeranian Rescue in Arizona.

There is no recognized breed called a miniature Pomeranian, also known as teacup or toy Pomeranian. The term refers to Pomeranians that are smaller than the usual or acceptable weight of the breed, according to American Kennel Club.

Pomeranians are already one of the smallest toy class breeds, weighing in between 3 and 7 pounds. Some breeders may use the term miniature or toy to refer to Pomeranians that come in at the low end of the acceptable weight, at 3 or 4 pounds. Dogs that come in under the acceptable weight limit are more susceptible to health issues.
