According to research performed at Mississippi State University, albino channel catfish are a rare find in the wild. However, an appreciated aquarium fish, the albino is very popular in the aquatic trade and is more prevalent in the wild now than in the past due to restocking efforts.
Albinos are white to cream in color and bear red or pink eyes. Channel catfish come in a variety of shades; one of the most common is gray or grayish-brown with dark brown or dark green dorsal fins. Other channel cats are pale blue or pale olive with a silvery tint and yellow, green or white sides.
