In some cases, a bear can be a threat to a tiger, especially when there is competition for food. Bengal tigers hunt sloth bears. Tigers are the largest of the 36 species of cats in the world. Their senses are much stronger than those of humans, and they have the ability to communicate over very long distances.
A tiger's vision at night is six times stronger than that of humans, and its hearing is five times better. A tiger's vocal form of communication, the roar, can be heard from 2 miles away.
In the wild, these animals can live up to 15 years, but they can live longer in captivity. Tigers are carnivores, meaning their diet consists of meat. They feast on small and large animals such as birds, frogs, wild deer, wild cattle and buffalo. Most Bengal tigers are found in India. They also live in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar and Nepal.Learn more about Large Cats
