The plains zebra lives in the forests, woodlands and savannas of Africa. It lives in areas of Africa such as Tanzania, Kenya and Mozambique.
Plains zebras live off the long and short grasses of their habitat and will, at times, eat leaves and other types of vegetation. Plains zebras must eat a lot of vegetation to grow into their adult weight of between 450 and 600 pounds, and they stand at between 4 and 5 feet tall. Each zebra has stripes that are meant to confuse predators and regulate the zebra's body temperature in the harsh African climate. The stripes' design varies by species.
