The Breeders' Cup's official website lists all past winners of the Breeders' Cup Classic. These race statistics include the winning horse's name, owner and jockey. The website lists the date of the race, track distance, finishing time and monetary odds for each year.
The Breeders' Cup is an annual thoroughbred horse race held in the United States. Organizers award seven of the 14 spots in the race to the winners of qualifying horse races such as the Stephen Foster Handicap, the Whitney Handicap, the Pacific Classic and the Awesome Again Stakes. The Jockey Club Gold Cup, the Gold Cup and Santa Anita and the Haskell Invitational Stakes are other qualifying races.
The Breeders' Cup Classic is part of the greater Breeders' Cup World Championships. Other races in this championship series include Juvenile Turf, Filly & Mare Sprint and Dirt Mile. Juvenile races are limited to young horses, and filly and mare races are limited to female horses. Dirt and turf races refer to the type of track, while sprint and mile races refer to the distance raced by the horses.
Although they have their own dedicated championships within the Breeders' Cup series, organizers permit fillies and mares to race in the Breeders' Cup Classic. Horses younger than 3 years old are limited to the juvenile races.
