Florida Parrot Rescue, Foster Parrots and Companion Parrots Re-Homed are parrot rescue organizations. All three organizations rescue parrots from dangerous situations and accept surrendered parrots from owners. The three organizations are 501(c)3 non-profits and any donations are tax-deductible.
Florida Parrot Rescue works across Florida; as of 2015, the organization has found homes for 900 birds since its founding. Parrots live in foster homes until adoption. The organization's financial resources provide veterinary and other care for its birds. Potential adopters may view available birds on Florida Parrot Rescue's social media pages, Pet Finder and Adopt A Pet websites.
Foster Parrots is located in Rockland, Massachusetts, and officially incorporated in 1999. The organization expanded into the New England Exotic Wildlife Sanctuary in 2007. It is dedicated to rescuing and protecting unwanted and abused parrots and other exotic animals. Unadoptable parrots remain in sanctuary care for life.
Companion Parrots Re-Homed is located in Pineville, North Carolina. This all-volunteer organization began operating in 2003 and received 501(c)3 status in 2008. Each bird in the program receives a veterinarian examination and disease testing before being placed in a quarantine home for 30 days prior to being offered for adoption. The organization also provides education for potential adopters and parrot owners having trouble with their birds.
