Ragdoll kittens can be purchased through breeders, found through the Ragdoll Fanciers Club International website, or adopted through adoption websites such as AdoptAPet.com. Individual breeders may also have websites with kittens available for sale.
The Ragdoll Fanciers Club International website lists breeders across the world, holding affiliated breeders to a code of conduct. However, it does not guarantee the health of purchased kittens. AdoptAPet.com strongly cautions potential pet owners against purchasing kittens from a pet store, warning that these kittens are often the product of a kitten mill that does not screen for health or temperament and raises them in inhumane conditions. Adopting is generally a more cost-effective method. Individual breeders such as Ragdoll Blues may offer kittens that have been fully vaccinated and dewormed, with availability based on litter size, and may accept deposits to hold a kitten.
Ragdoll cats are large cats with blue eyes and long coats that require regular brushing. They are known for being extremely affectionate towards humans, with some taught to respond to their names and play fetch, forming strong attachments. They come in four patterns and six color variations, resulting in 24 total combinations, all of which are acceptable for showing by the Cat Fanciers Association's standards. Males can reach up to 20 pounds while females usually stop at 15 pounds.
