How Much Does a Tiger Weigh?

Male tigers usually weigh from 220 to 675 pounds; female tigers weigh from 200 to 368 pounds. A male Siberian tiger shot in 1950 reportedly weighed 847 pounds.

Tigers are the largest living cats. They can measure over 12 feet in length and stand up to 3 1/2 feet high at the shoulders. They are apex predators and feed on large ungulates such as water buffalo, deer, wild pigs and antelope. They also hunt and kill tapirs, bears, leopards, pythons, and the calves of elephants and rhinos. A tiger normally hunts from ambush, using its weight to knock the prey down before killing it with a bite to the neck.
