Since mollusks are one of the most diverse groups of animals on the planet, they livein virtually every habitat on earth. However, most are found in marine environments between the tropical and temperate regions.
Marine mollusks typically live around coral reefs, rocky shores or sandy beaches. Some species are also found at the deepest parts of the ocean, called the abyssal zone. They also live on or near volcanic vents. Some species of microscopic mollusks can even live between grains of sand. Examples of terrestrial mollusks include slugs and snails. These species are also known to live in freshwater environments.
