A Miniature Labradoodle is a designer breed that is a cross between a Labrador retriever and a miniature poodle. The dog was first bred in Australia in 1989, according to Puppies Up North.
Labradoodles are intelligent, friendly, sociable and intuitive. They make good guide or therapy animals, and the breed's hypoallergenic coat makes them good pets for people with allergies. A Labradoodle coat can be straight or curly, due to its poodle influence, and can come in a variety of colors, including white, cream or black.
A first-generation Labradoodle exhibits light shedding, whereas a second generation Labradoodle does not shed at all and has a fleece coat. The dog stands between 13 and 16 inches tall and can weigh anywhere from 25 to 40 pounds.
