How Long Do Rattlesnakes Live?

Rattlesnakes have a lifespan in the wild of 10 to 20 years. The species is not endangered, but the species has experienced thinning numbers due to hunting and loss of habitat.

Rattlesnakes primarily feed on household pests such as rodents, along with squirrels and birds, and possess a deadly toxin that can be fatal to humans. They have an undeserved reputation for being aggressive, even though they shun human contact and attack only when directly provoked, rattling their tails as a warning before striking. Rattlesnakes are frequently killed by humans and other natural predators, which include hawks, bald eagles, roadrunners and wild turkeys.
