The green cheek conure typically lives 30 years or longer. Though the conure is a member of a bird family whose members tend to be boisterous, some experts consider it biddable enough for a first-time parrot owner and quiet enough for an apartment, but others disagree.
The green cheek conure is small for a parrot and measures only about 10 inches in length. Though it doesn't mimic speech very well, owners prize the bird for its playful and affectionate nature. Like all parrots, the green cheek conure is energetic and requires a great deal of exercise. It thrives on a diet of fruits, seeds and vegetables.
