A group of baboons is called a troop, consisting of up to 250 individuals. The chacma, olive, yellow and Guinea baboons form the largest troops of all five species of this Old World monkey.
There are five species of baboons: chacma, olive, yellow, Guinea and hamadryas. Hamadryas baboons live in the hills bordering the Red Sea, while all four of the other species live on the African Savanna. Old World monkeys such as the baboon can live in a wide range of climates and habitats. While baboons are capable of climbing trees, they spend the majority of their time on the ground.
