Yorkshire terriers are adaptable and able to thrive in a variety of home environments; however, they do require plenty of grooming, attention and training, as described by the American Kennel Club. Members of this breed are generally healthy, moderately active, affectionate and intelligent.
Yorkshire terriers, also known as Yorkies, are a toy variety of terrier. As such, they tend to be relatively intelligent compared to other popular breeds and have average energy levels. Due to their longer coats, they require more grooming. They may also become very attached to their owners, which can sometimes lead to issues when they are forced to spend time alone.
