There are number of ways to remove black widows from your home while also taking preventative measures that reduce the chances of future problems. Nonchemical prevention methods involve proper sanitation, getting rid of hiding spots and removing excess debris. Using the right insecticides is also important.
Colorless, waterproof, odorless and long-lasting insecticides such as Delta dust or Drione dust are effective in eliminating black widows. These insecticides eliminate the spiders quickly and continue to be effective if not disturbed. Insecticides should be used in areas such as cracks, crevices and crawl spaces and under furniture and other dark and dusty hiding spots. It is best to vacuum the sprayed areas and throw away the bag after use to ensure no eggs or black widows remain.
