What Do Hedgehogs Eat and Drink?
Last Updated Mar 28, 2020 11:37:05 PM ET

In the wild, hedgehogs are carnivorous and eat insects, snails, mice, worms, frogs and snakes. When kept as pets, hedgehogs can be fed a variety of commercial hedgehog foods as well as dry cat food. Both wild and captive hedgehogs drink water.
While dry commercial foods should be the staple, a pet hedgehog's diet should be supplemented with vegetables, cooked meats, mealworms and crickets three to four times a week. Hedgehogs are not known to be over-eaters, so their food can be left out for free grazing, although the special treats should only be offered for up to 15 minutes and then removed.
