Little Shelter Animal Rescue & Adoption Center and Forgotten Friends of Long Island are two of the many good dog rescue shelters on Long Island, New York. Both rescue groups find safe and suitable homes for different breeds of dogs rescued from shelters all over the country.
Founded in 1926 and named one of Long Island Press' Best of Long Island for six straight years, the Little Shelter Animal Rescue & Adoption Center is one of the oldest dog rescue centers on Long Island. Forgotten Friends of Long Island is a small, not-for-profit organization that runs events such as art classes and bingo nights to help finance the organization. It is a foster- and volunteer-based rescue group that saves animals from high-kill animal shelters. Both organizations are part of the Mayor's Alliance for NYC Animals.
