What Do Frogs Eat Besides Bugs?

In addition to eating bugs, frogs also eat small mammals, fish, birds, and lizards and other frogs. Certain frogs, such as the ornate horned frog, have mouths large enough to consume mice and other small animals.

Frogs prefer to eat live fish to dead ones. They catch fish by grabbing them with their tongues and swallowing them whole. Several types of frogs eat birds as large as they can fit in their mouths. One type of frog in Thailand hunts birds by waiting for them near water.

Some frogs eat other frogs, even those directly related to them. For this reason, smaller frogs often don't fare well around larger frogs. Frogs also eat any lizards that fit in their mouths.
