Fill a pot of water and place it on the stove. Bring the water to a full boil and remove from the heat.
Slice a lemon into several thin slices. Place the slices in the hot water. Allow the pot to sit overnight so the water absorbs the natural flea repellent from the lemon.
Pour the liquid into a household spray bottle. If treating a large dog, it is often easier to apply the flea dip with a large sponge.
Spray the liquid on the dog or use the sponge to saturate its coat with the material. Do not get the liquid in your pet's eyes.
Repeat the flea dip process whenever your dog shows signs of fleas. If fleas continue to be a problem, wash any pet bedding and vacuum carpets in the home to remove any fleas. Dispose of the vacuum bag outside the house to prevent fleas from infesting your pet again.
