Because the fennec fox is a small animal, it is preyed upon by jackals, hyenas, caracals and the saluki. Although this species of fox is smaller than many others, it has fur that blends into its surroundings and offers a great deal of protection from predators.
The fennec fox lives in Africa and is the smallest fox species in the world. A mature fennec fox weighs around 3.5 pounds and stands between 9 and 16 inches tall. Their coat is a sandy brown color, which helps them blend in with their habitat, and they are easily recognizable by their large ears. Their large ears help them to hear prey that might be hiding underground.
