It is estimated that a dragonfly can fly up to 60 miles per hour by using their four individual wings. Dragonflies are known for their impressive flying feats and can do everything from hover to zip around in different directions without losing speed.
There are 5,000 different dragonfly species, and all 5,000 species have the same powerful flying capabilities. The dragonfly can even reproduce and hunt while flying. Some dragonflies also migrate and travel approximately 7.5 miles each day, but they can travel as many as 100 miles in a day. However, the dragonfly does not start out with this impressive flying skill and spends as long as 2 years in an aquatic larval stage.
