A chimpanzee can run at 25 mph. It has powerful hind limbs that propel it forward at an amazing speed. The forelimbs are strong and meant for gripping objects while on the move. The chimp moves forward rapidly with a shuffling movement.
The chimp screams and leans on its knuckles while running, as it prefers to run on all four limbs. The head is usually bent forward.
Chimpanzees are apes and the closest relatives of the Homo sapien. An average chimpanzee is 4 feet tall and weighs about 90 pounds. However, a chimpanzee can often grow to over 5 feet tall and weigh more than 130 pounds.
