Two predators of the snowy owl are falcons and foxes, but the greatest danger is humans who may hunt the snowy owl for trophies or food, according to the University of Michigan's zoology department. Other threats to snowy owls include dogs, gray wolves and other birds, such as the skua.
Male snowy owls defend the open nest, which is on the ground, nearby, while females care for the eggs and young. However, both male and female snowy owls attack any threats by swooping and diving. Snowy owls can also fake an injury by dragging a wing on the ground and leading the predator away from the nest.
