People often think of a monkey as a happy animal that swings in the trees, but monkeys have a number of predators that like the meat they provide. Cougars and leopards are among the large jungle cats that prey on monkeys. These cats must pounce when monkeys are low.
Large flying birds, such as eagles, like to eat monkeys as well. Raptors have the advantages of keen eyesight, sharp claws and the ability to swoop down to catch their prey. Large reptilians also eat monkeys that roam near water bodies. Alligators and large snakes, such as the boa, like to eat monkeys.
