The different species of lizards are subdivided into different suborders and families, such as Iguania, Diploglossa, Platynota, Gekkota and Scincomorpha. In the Iguania suborder, some different families of lizards are anoles, bearded dragons, chameleons, iguanas, collared and leopard lizards. Within each family, there can be different types of lizards.

For example, there are nearly 400 different types of anoles, including brown, green and knight anoles. Their diet includes grubs, moths and crickets. In the Gekkota suborder, there are geckos and different families of legless lizards. Some different types of geckos are the Bibrons, Tokay and flying geckos.

The suborder Autarchoglossa and family Scincidae are found the skinks, tegus and spectacled lizards. There are many other types of lizards including venomous types, such as the Gila monster/lizard. There are also burrowing lizards in the suborder Sauria.

Lizards can come in all sizes and can have four limbs or be limbless. Their size range can be from 2 inches to 10 feet.
