There are numerous horse and pony rescues located throughout the United States, including Laughing Pony Rescue, Polo Pony Rescue, Omega Horse Rescue and Chincoteague Pony Rescue. These rescues are nonprofit organizations dedicated to the humane treatment of all equine.
Laughing Pony Rescue, founded in 2009, is located in Rancho Santa Fe, California. They rescue and rehabilitate horses and ponies of any breed. Due to limited space, they focus on premarin farm mares, feedlot horses and neglect cases.
Polo Pony Rescue, founded in 2012, focuses on rescuing at risk former polo ponies. It is located in Santa Clarita, California and provides veterinary care, training, rehabilitation and adoption for the equine in its care. For horses that, due to mental or physical conditions, are no longer able to be ridden, it provides a permanent retirement home.
Omega Horse Rescue is located in Airville, Pennsylvania, and has rescued, cared and found homes for over 1,200 equine animals. It provides care for horses, ponies, mules and donkeys. The philosophy of Omega Horse Rescue is to educate equine owners, legislate for the humane treatment of all equine and find loving homes for unwanted or abused equine animals.
Chincoteague Pony Rescue focuses on the rescue and rehabilitation of Chincoteague ponies, otherwise known as Assateague horses. It is located in Ridgely, Maryland, and strives to provide a quality, loving environment for abused or unwanted Chincoteague ponies.
