Where Did the Megalodon Live?
The megalodon lived during the Miocene era and lived throughout the entire ocean. It is believed that one of the reasons that the megalodon may have become extinct is because the Central American Seaway closed when new land formed, making the once warm and connected oceans colder and disconnected.
In these warmer waters, the megalodon was unable to regulate its body temperature like great white sharks can today. The megalodon was one of the largest predators in the ocean and was the largest shark ever. It could grow as long as 50 feet and was thought to have the strongest and most deadly bite of all of the creatures that have ever lived.
