There are two different types of Corgis: Pembroke and Cardigan. Both types of Corgi have similar bodies and levels of intelligence, as well as trainability. One of the easiest ways to tell the difference between the two types is by looking at their tails.
Pembroke Welsh Corgis are the smallest dogs in the American Kennel Club's Herding Group. The Cardigan is slightly larger than the Pembroke. Corgis were bred originally as herding dogs and they were regularly seen in the fields with cattle, sheep, and horses. Corgis are great with children and other animals, making them a popular dog for families.
