Common dog breeds include Labrador retrievers and golden retrievers, German shepherds, bulldogs and beagles. Yorkshire terriers, poodles, boxers and Rottweilers are also popular dog breeds in America.
According to the American Kennel Club, the Labrador retriever has been one of the most common dog breeds in America for over 24 years. German shepherds are the second-most popular breed and golden retrievers are the third.
Smaller dogs, such as bulldogs (including French bulldogs), are becoming more popular in the United States and the UK. Terriers, including Yorkshire terriers, Jack Russell terriers and bull terriers, are also common smaller dogs. Beagles are also common, possibly due to the popularity of Snoopy, Charlie Brown's dog. Common medium and larger dog breeds are Siberian huskies, Rottweilers, poodles and boxers.
