A Chinese pug is just another name for the breed of dog known more commonly as a pug. The breed is descended from small dogs imported from China into England and the Netherlands in the 1600s.
The modern pug stands around 12 inches tall and weighs around 15 pounds. They have round heads with a flattened muzzle, a stocky body and short fur. They are bred to be companion dogs. They need minimal exercise and have difficulty with both hot and cold weather. They come in either fawn or black. They tend to be clownish and playful, but can be difficult to train.
