Some pet foods from Stella & Chewy's were recalled twice in 2015 because they tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes, a widespread organism commonly found in many food processing environments. It may cause serious and sometimes fatal infection to pets. The first recall occurred in July, while the second recall was in Dec. 2015. Both recalls involved four products sold in the United States and Canada, and included cat and dog food as well as dinner morsels for cats and dogs.

In 2013, the Natura Pet Product conducted a voluntary recall of all dry dog and dry cat food and treat varieties of its popular brands, such as EVO, Innova and Healthwise. The dry food and treats tested positive for salmonella. A year later, in 2014, the FDA ordered a recall of some EVO Grain Free Turkey & Chicken Formula dry food for cats due to inaccurate levels of minerals and vitamins.

In 2013, Dogswell and Catswell made a company recall of treats made in China due to antibiotic residue. The recall included several cat and dog chicken breast treats from several brands. Prior to the recall, the FDA issued a warning for jerky treats made in China, including duck, sweet potato and chicken treats.
