Oceana's website has a list of ocean animals, from A to Z, as part of their marine animal encyclopedia. A list of bodies of water and habitats can also be found on the Oceana website.
The oceans of the Earth are some of the most biologically diverse places on the planet. While many marine animals have been identified, there are some that are unknown to humans due to the sheer size and depth of the world's oceans. Marine biodiversity, which is the degree of variation in life-forms in seas and oceans, appears to be highest in the Western Pacific around its hot spots. A hot spot is a location where the surface temperature of the ocean is warmest.
