Lions are agile creatures that are adept at swimming when it is necessary. They usually live in areas where large bodies of water do not affect their habitats. However, in some places, lions are required to swim more frequently in order to hunt prey and survive.
Lions live in groups, called prides, of a few males, a dozen females and their young lion cubs. Females take the lead in hunting, working in teams to take down the largest prey. Adult males are much longer than females, growing as long as 9 feet. With such a large frame, they weigh from 330 to 500 pounds.
