The African Wildlife Federation lists lion habitats, and both the AWF and Defenders of Wildlife provide information on threats to lions from such factors as changes in habitat. The National Geographic Society website has educational material on the African Savanna, which is an important habitat for lions today.
According to the African Wildlife Federation, lions live in savannas, grasslands, dense bush and woodlands. These habitats are threatened by such human activities as farming and the construction of roads and towns.
The lion is a chief predator within its habitat. Zebras, impala and warthogs all share the lion's home, and all are sources of food for the big cat.
