Labradoodles are not recognized as a breed by the American Kennel Club as of 2015, so there are no bloodlines with Labradoodles with official championships. The Australian Labradoodle Association of America helps to develop the Labradoodle as an official breed and hosts links to member breeders.
Labradoodles are a popular type of hybrid dog created by crossing Labrador retrievers with standard or miniature poodles. The original goal of this cross was to create a hypoallergenic dog for use as a service animal, but Labradoodles are also popular as family dogs. Labradoodles are vulnerable to hip and elbow dysplasia, hypothyroidism, von Willenbrand's disease, thrombopathia and eye problems, and reputable breeders screen for these issues.
