All dogs are kept in private foster homes until adopted, and the foster homes provide socialization, training and professional veterinary care.
Ratbone Rescues is located in St. Petersburg, Florida, but rescues abandoned, neglected and abused rat terriers across the United States. Potential adopters can submit an email application with their veterinarians' names and references.The dog's foster parents then contact the potential adopter. Ratbone Rescues sends adoption contracts once it approves adoptive homes, and the dog's new family must pay for the cost of getting the dog home if it is located in another state.
American Rat Terrier Rescue is located in Isleton, California. Each rescued rat terrier receives distemper, corona, bordetella, paravirus, parvo and rabies vaccinations, and is spayed or neutered in accordance with National All breed Rescue guidelines. The organization carefully screens all potential adopters and performs home inspections to ensure a loving, appropriate home for rat terriers. The organization also performs a follow-up visit to make sure that the dog is doing well in its new home.
